Heritage Point

Update: 9.6.16

“The possible’s slow fuse is lit by the imagination.”

Emily Dickinson

Roanoke Natural Food Co-ops presented a Request for Proposal (RFP) regarding the future use of our property at 2051 Blue Hills Drive, commonly referred to as Heritage Point. The co-op operated our urban farm from 2012-2015 at this location. We are now seeking proposals from organizations with a vested interest in the Roanoke region and the people who live here. We hope to establish a partnership with an organization that will utilize the co-op’s land, buildings and resources at the site to create some positive community impact.

Please take a look at the RFP and let us know if you plan to submit a proposal.

We believe this property, with the right partnership and the support of the Roanoke Valley’s vibrant community of doers, will come alive in ways that we may not be able to imagine today.

Please share this RFP freely with your contacts; we are looking for that one spark to light this fuse.

Update: 7.14.16

The co-op is currently working on a Request for Proposal (RFP) for other organizations that would like to partner with us to use the land at Heritage Point in order accomplish our collective goals. That RFP will likely be released this fall. Thanks for checking back! Continue to follow this page, Facebook, Twitter and subscribe to our weekly newsletter here.

Update: 5.13.16

On April 11, Roanoke Natural Foods Co-op hosted a community forum for its property at 2051 Blue Hill Drive, called Heritage Point. There were 60 co-op owners and community members in attendance! We were so pleased with the great turnout at the Heritage Point Community Forum in April. We’re especially grateful for the dedication, time and energy of all of the attendees who obviously care so deeply about Roanoke Natural Foods Co-op and want to see Heritage Point thrive. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Here, you will find a summary of the forum. We captured several hundred points of input from the 60 people in attendance that night. As a way of bringing those ideas into a concise summary, we put together two documents:

Community’s Personal Values, an important part of establishing commonality in our group.
Summary of Brainstorming Ideas, sorted into categories.

And here is the raw data:

Brainstorming sheets (Jpegs), 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 , Raw data collected at the forum
